Black History: 365 Days Not 28!

Fortunately, I am black every day of the year, so celebrating for 28 days (the shortest month of the year, coincidently) is just not enough! I intend to celebrate for 365 days a year and remind myself by consistently indulging in the writings of Carter G. Woodson, live out the mission of the civil rights movement by being my brother's keeper for Stockley Carmichael, focus on what Dr. King actually meant when he said, "We shall overcome," be a leader even through the valley of the shadow of death, like Harriet Tubman, speak up for women and girls when people denigrate femininity like Sojourner Truth, nourish my hair with products "just for me" like Madame C. J. Walker, fight for HIV/AIDS education and awareness like Hydeia Broadbent, and become, what others say I cannot be, like President Barack Obama. I am black. I am woman. I am history... every day.
